LABUAN — A total of 180 litres of diesel was confiscated at a construction site along Jalan Kiansam here yesterday by enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Federal Territory of Labuan.
A KPDN Labuan spokesperson said the site owner was found storing the diesel in nine jerry cans without a storage permit or written authorisation from the Supply Controller when the relevant documents were requested for inspection.
“The estimated value of the seized diesel is RM477, and the case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
“If convicted, an individual may be fined up to RM1 million or imprisoned for up to three years, or both. A company may be fined up to RM2 million for a first offence, subject to the provisions of the applicable law,” the spokesperson said.
In a separate case, during today’s enforcement operation under the Chinese New Year Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP CNY) 2026, a retail trader in a rural area was issued a compound for failing to display a pink price tag on a controlled item — imported potatoes from China.
KPDN Labuan stressed that any individual or company conducting transactions involving scheduled controlled goods must possess a licence, permit or written authorisation from the Supply Controller as provided under the law. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in strict action without compromise.
The spokesperson added that enforcement officers would continue to carry out daily inspections and monitoring under Ops Pantau 2026.
