LABUAN — The Department of Environment (DOE), Federal Territory of Labuan, together with the Labuan Fisheries Department, conducted an enforcement operation at a construction project site on Rusukan Kecil Island on February 25.

A spokesperson for DOE Labuan said the follow-up enforcement action was carried out to check whether the project was still ongoing after authorities raided the site on February 7.

“The project violated the Environmental Quality (Prescribed Activities) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Order 2015 under the Second Schedule, Activity 12. It is being carried out within a Marine Park area and is subject to approval of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA),” the spokesperson said.

DOE Labuan urged all developers to comply with the relevant procedures and legal provisions in force before commencing any development project, especially those involving environmentally sensitive areas such as Marine Parks.
