LABUAN — Mordi Bimol has urged youth and sports clubs here to fully utilise the opportunities offered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), including the Community Sports Fund (DSK), Sports Matching Grant (GPS), and the Rakan Muda Fund.
In his speech, he said youth individuals may also apply for the International Youth Fund (IYF@KBS) to participate in meetings, forums, conferences and similar events at the international level.
“Throughout 2025, KBS, through the Youth and Sports Department of the Federal Territory of Labuan, implemented around 148 youth, sports and Rakan Muda development programmes and activities, with the participation of more than 95,000 people. The implementation of programmes and activities will continue this year, with improvements to ensure they are more significant and in line with current trends.
“Based on statistics, a total of 89 sports bodies are registered under the Office of the Sports Commissioner (PJS), and 26 youth organisations are registered under the Office of the Registrar of Youth Societies (ROY). Therefore, I urge all parties to remain active in organising programmes and activities. Let us produce more national football legends such as Hassan Sani,” he said yesterday during a dialogue session with youth and sports stakeholders at the Labuan Sports Complex.
He said he came to Labuan with a clear mission — to listen and gather feedback from youth and sports stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness and impact of development programmes remain relevant, engaging and adaptable to change.
“Among the main focuses of my ministry (KBS) is to strengthen youth and sports development, especially in rural areas. For this purpose, I will personally lead the KBS team on a special initiative tour across Borneo,” he said, adding that he had been entrusted with focusing on Borneo to ensure no one in the country is left behind or marginalised.
