Dr Mohamad: MADANI People’s Feast Strengthens Community Unity During Ramadan

PERMATANG PAUH — Programmes that bring people together at the grassroots level are essential in strengthening unity and fostering a caring society, said Mohamad Abdul Hamid.

The Penang Deputy Chief Minister I said initiatives such as the MADANI People’s Feast reflect the aspirations of the MADANI concept, which emphasises social justice, compassion, and inclusive prosperity for all Malaysians.

“Community-based programmes like this allow the people to directly experience the government’s concern while strengthening relationships between leaders, government agencies, and the local community,” he said when attending the Special Satellite Programme: MADANI People’s Feast at Masjid Al-Falah, Pengkalan Tambang, here.

The programme was organised by the Malaysia Civic Academy (AKM), Prime Minister’s Department, in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.

Various activities were held during the event including the breaking of fast ceremony, spiritual sessions, civic awareness programmes, Rahmah Sales, the distribution of zakat contributions, and congregational prayers.

Dr Mohamad said Ramadan is also an important platform to cultivate the value of Ihsan, which emphasises sincerity, responsibility, and compassion in serving the community.

He noted that the collaboration between mosque management, government agencies, and security forces had ensured the smooth implementation of the programme while benefiting the local community.

“The combination of worship and community service initiatives within a single programme provides a holistic approach in strengthening social well-being,” he added.

Initiatives such as Rahmah Sales also help ease the cost of living for the public, while the distribution of zakat and welfare assistance further supports efforts to improve the well-being of those in need.

Dr Mohamad expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue to be organised to inspire greater community participation and strengthen unity among Malaysians.

Also present were Roslan Hussin, Mohd Khailani Ismail, and Mohd Termizi Mat Bunor, as well as department heads, KADUN coordinators, and representatives from various agencies.
