LABUAN — The Knowledge and Service Programme Series II, organised by the Labuan Children’s Welfare Team (PKKKL) in collaboration with the Labuan Social Welfare Department, has helped strengthen ties between youths under the department’s supervision and the local community.

PKKKL chairman Ahmad Radzi Abd Halim said the youths involved showed positive commitment in carrying out community activities, particularly during the Ramadan month.

He said the programme aims to expose youths to the importance of community service while building self-confidence and instilling a sense of responsibility in community life.

A total of 15 youths participated in activities including youth health screenings, counselling and motivational sessions, as well as a community effort to cook corn porridge (bubur jagung) for distribution to the public ahead of the breaking of fast.

The youths also distributed the porridge to five mosques and surau around Labuan to promote the spirit of sharing during the holy month.

Ahmad Radzi said PKKKL plans to continue organising similar programmes in the future to encourage youth participation in beneficial activities and strengthen community ties. (Japen)
