KOTA KINABALU — Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) will host the 2026 Kota Kinabalu Mayor’s Cup Open Sepak Takraw Championship from April 17 to 19, 2026 at Dewan Maksak Likas here.
The three-day championship, which offers a total prize pool of RM10,000, is open to players from Sabah, the Federal Territory of Labuan, and Sarawak, and is expected to attract some of the best regu teams from across Borneo.
According to the entry requirements, only two players per regu who have previously represented at the national, state, Piala Emas Khir Johari, STL, SUKMA, Piala Tun Ali, or equivalent national-level tournaments from 2023 and earlier are allowed to compete in the same team.
All players must also be Malaysian citizens, with identity cards registered in Sabah, Labuan, or Sarawak only.
Each regu is allowed to register five players, including substitutes, while the use of numbered jerseys and armbands is mandatory throughout the tournament.
For the inter-regu category, the champion will receive RM5,000, the runner-up RM3,000, while the joint third-place finishers (two regu teams) will each receive RM2,000.
The registration fee has been set at RM300 per regu.
