LABUAN — Some 30 registered participants from the RunSmart by Brooks Labuan community took part in Sabrina’s Plog Activity 2026 – Long Slow Distance (LSD) Plogging 12KM, combining fitness and environmental care in an early morning community run on April 5.
The event, which flagged off at 6.30am, aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of keeping the Federal Territory of Labuan clean and litter-free, while promoting a healthy lifestyle through jogging.
Event spokesperson Sabrina Sahar said the programme was designed to encourage the public to adopt healthier habits while playing an active role in preserving the cleanliness and beauty of Labuan.
“The main objective is to ensure Labuan remains clean, beautiful and free from litter, while at the same time promoting health and fitness among the community,” she said. “The event was free of charge, with participants equipped with plogging kits and given small appreciation tokens as part of the initiative.”
She added that the activity was further enlivened by a lucky draw, prizes for the top three male and female podium winners, as well as light refreshments for participants after the run.
The plogging route was initially set at 12 kilometres, but had to be shortened to 5 kilometres due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Participants started from a food court at Kampung Durian Tunjong, heading towards the checkpoint at Anjung Ikan Bakar, Kampung Tanjung Aru, before returning to the starting point.
She expressed hope that the activity would inspire the running community to embrace “running with purpose” — staying active while contributing to a cleaner environment.
