LABUAN — Ten Chinese nationals were detained by the Labuan Immigration Department for allegedly committing an offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).

The arrests were made during Ops Sapu, carried out at four residential locations in housing areas around Labuan on Feb 3, 2026, between 12.00am and 1.30am.

A spokesperson for the operation said it was conducted based on public tip-offs and gathered intelligence.

“A total of 20 individuals were inspected during the operation, comprising 15 men and five women, all Chinese nationals.

“Ten individuals failed to produce valid travel documents or passes and were subsequently detained for further investigation.

“During the operation, several individuals were believed to have attempted to flee through the back doors of the residences, leading to a brief chase. However, all individuals were successfully detained by our officers without any untoward incidents,” he said.

Meanwhile, the public and employers are reminded not to shelter or employ illegal immigrants, as strict action can be taken under existing laws.
