LABUAN — The Labuan Road Transport Department (Labuan RTD) issued three summonses to motorists for offences involving an expired driving licence, an unsecured load, and non-compliant vehicle registration number specifications yesterday.
A spokesperson for the department said the summonses were issued during a morning operation at Jalan Kinabenua in conjunction with the Special Operation and Chinese New Year 2026 Safety Campaign, which is being conducted nationwide from February 13 to February 22.
“A total of 30 vehicles were inspected during the operation. We are focusing on checking nine major offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and its related regulations, including speeding, failing to obey traffic light signals, overtaking on double lines, driving in the emergency lane, queue cutting, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, and overloading.
“Through this operation, we aim to monitor, detect, and take action against road users who violate existing traffic laws and regulations,” the spokesperson said.
Labuan RTD will continue to carry out enforcement activities to ensure road users comply with the prescribed regulations and that vehicles are properly maintained and safe before travelling to their destinations.
