ROMPIN, Pahang — Approximately 1,000 visitors flocked to the Teluk Gading Maritime Post Jetty in Rompin for the Open Ship Day Program organized by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Pahang in conjunction with its 21st Anniversary Celebration, held recently.
The Director of Pahang State Maritime, First Admiral (Maritime) Mazlan Mat Rejab, said the program, which ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., successfully attracted various segments of society, including students, families, and communities from around Kuala Rompin and Endau.
“The event, themed ‘Empowered Maritime, Protected Oceans,’ reflects Maritim Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening operational capabilities and enhancing personnel readiness to ensure the nation’s waters remain safe and protected,” said Mazlan.
Throughout the program, three vessels — KM Tatau, KM Manjung, and KM Mersuji — were showcased to the public, along with four operational boats: Penggalang 14, Perkasa 31, Perkasa 44, and Perkasa 46.
Visitors had the opportunity to board the vessels, tour internal facilities, and receive direct briefings from on-duty personnel. Perkasa 46 also offered a boat ride activity, providing visitors with a simulated maritime operation experience.
The program was further enlivened by exhibition booths from the Corporate Communication Unit and the Pahang State Maritime Safety Section, as well as participation from external agencies, including the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department (Kuala Rompin Fire and Rescue Station), the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Rompin District, Bank Simpanan Nasional Rompin Branch, and the Rompin District Health Office, which provided basic health screenings for visitors.
