LABUAN — A juvenile crocodile was caught by two local men at Kampung Rancha-Rancha Laut today.
A spokesperson for the Labuan Civil Defence Force (APM Labuan) said they received a call at 7:12 pm from a man in his 20s who had caught the crocodile and wished to hand it over to the authorities.
“Our personnel rushed to the scene after receiving the call,” the spokesperson said, adding that the caller, identified as Syamsul Zaman, had caught the reptile together with his companion, Ahmad Irfan Mohamad, while they were returning from a fishing trip at Sungai Rancha-Rancha Laut.
The spokesperson further stated that the handover of the wild animal was successfully completed at 7:53 pm. The crocodile was identified as a saltwater crocodile (estuarine crocodile), measuring 1.8 metres in length and weighing 10 kg.
Previously, on February 25 this year, another juvenile crocodile was captured by APM Labuan at Kampung Nagalang after they received a call from a local resident who was out on a fishing trip.
