PUTRAJAYA — The Phase 2 payments of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) will be brought forward and credited in stages to 5.2 million recipients starting tomorrow, March 10.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced the move during the Prime Minister’s Department monthly assembly today, noting that the early disbursement is intended to assist millions of Malaysians with preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
The number of recipients for Phase 2 has increased to 5.2 million, up from 5 million in the first phase. This includes 200,000 newly approved recipients who are scheduled to receive their payments starting March 30, 2026.
The government has allocated RM1.3 billion for this phase, an increase from the RM1.1 billion distributed during Phase 1 in January. The breakdown of the Phase 2 assistance is as follows:
- 8 million households.
- 4 million single senior citizens.
- Payment rates ranging from RM100 to RM600 based on specific eligibility categories.
Anwar emphasized that expanding the STR Phase 2 recipient base ensures more citizens benefit from the government’s social assistance framework, particularly during the festive season.
“Through STR, the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), and SARA Untuk Semua, the MADANI Government remains committed to ensuring national revenue is shared and utilized by the people, especially those in need,” he said.
For the 2026 fiscal year, the total allocation for STR and SARA stands at RM15 billion, maintaining its position as the highest allocation in the history of the Federal Government.
Recipients with bank accounts will have funds credited directly starting March 10 for existing recipients and March 30 for new recipients. Those without bank accounts, including those in Sabah, Sarawak, and W.P. Labuan, can claim their cash payments at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch.
