LABUAN: Thirty-six asnaf students from SM St Anthony received financial assistance funded through zakat contributions during the Khatam Al-Quran, Iftar and Tarawih Prayer (KAIFTAR) programme held yesterday evening at the Labuan Co-curriculum Centre.
Labuan Manager of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), Ustaz Mohd Rafie Zakaria, said the aid was channelled from zakat contributions by zakat payers to help ease the students’ financial burden.
He also expressed appreciation to contributors who continue to support initiatives aimed at assisting those in need.
The event was officiated by Assistant Director of the Islamic Education Sector, Labuan Education Department, Kamariah Salim.
Also present was Head of the Human Development Unit of MAIWP Labuan, Mohd Isa Ahris.
