KUALA LUMPUR — The 56 vessels comprising the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), currently sailing in international waters en route to Gaza, have received warnings from Israeli naval forces.
The Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) issued an emergency alert via its social media channels today, reporting that communications among the vessels were interrupted at 3:10 a.m. Malaysia Time (MYT) on April 29.
“It is possible that interception by Israeli naval forces could occur just outside Greek waters. Israeli naval vessels are now reported to be surrounding the flotilla in international waters and threatening to detain participants aboard the vessels,” SNCC said in its statement.
According to video footage from one of the vessels, an Israeli naval spokesperson was seen ordering the flotilla to change course and return to their port of departure.
