KUALA LUMPUR — Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa Malaysia) has honoured the achievements of brokers, market intermediaries, and principal advisers across the nation’s capital market at the Bursa Malaysia Excellence Awards 2025.

The 13th edition of the awards, themed “Recognising Excellence, Driving Market Vibrancy,” presented a total of 59 awards across 29 categories spanning the Securities, Derivatives, and Islamic markets.

The ceremony was graced by Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong, who represented Finance Minister II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan. Also in attendance were Bursa Malaysia Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Farid Alias and Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed.

In his keynote address, Liew highlighted Malaysia’s firm economic growth of 5.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, driven by robust domestic demand and a continuous surge in electrical and electronics (E&E) exports.

“This underlines the nation’s economic resilience amid growing global uncertainties, built upon the strong semiconductor industry. Malaysia’s current uptrend is not just cyclical; it is a once-in-a-generation moment,” Liew said, adding that with continued efforts, the nation is poised to achieve its “second takeoff”.

Meanwhile, Abdul Farid attributed the market’s progress in liquidity, participation, and overall resilience to a cohesive ecosystem working together to support orderly markets and trusted price discovery.

“As we build on this momentum, our focus remains on strengthening market vibrancy, driven by disciplined execution and sustained participation, and supported by quality intermediation,” Abdul Farid noted.

The year 2025 marked substantial growth for the Exchange, which hosted 60 listings compared to 55 in 2024. The Securities Market reached an all-time high of 2.5 million active CDS accounts, supported by over 524,000 new accounts opened during the year, while the on-market average daily trading value averaged RM2.545 billion.

Additionally, the Derivatives Market posted its second consecutive record year with a 3.7 per cent year-on-year rise in average daily contracts traded to 95,472, while the Islamic market’s Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ recorded its highest average daily trading value of RM48.8 billion, up 18 per cent year-on-year.

Among the prominent winners of the night, Maybank Investment Bank Berhad clinched multiple accolades, including Champion for Best Principal Adviser (Most Number of MAIN Market IPOs), Best Principal Adviser (Largest IPO of the Year), and Best Principal Adviser (Highest IPO Funds Raised).
