LABUAN — SK Tanjung Aru secured two gold medals at the 2026 MSSWPL Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) Athletics Championship, with Mohammad Aiman Syahzieman Abdullah winning the men’s Under-12 100-metre and long jump events.
The championship was held at SK Pantai and SMK Pantai recently.
The achievement marked SK Tanjung Aru’s first participation in the MSSWPL PPKI Athletics Championship.
SK Tanjung Aru headmaster Mohd Farihi Ab Halim said the achievement proved that every student had their own strengths and potential.
“With continuous training, self-confidence and support from teachers, parents and friends, no obstacle can stand in the way of success,” he said.
The school’s Senior Assistant for Co-curricular Affairs, Irham Hamid, said despite it being Aiman’s first participation in the championship, he had achieved an impressive result.
He hoped the achievement would motivate Aiman to continue working hard, train more diligently and challenge himself to compete at higher levels.
He said success was not measured solely by the medals won, but also by the courage to try, the determination not to give up and the commitment to continuously improve.
Aiman was trained by Meliron Teo Twan Lee, Hazeyzul Abdul Halim, Noor Ailing Voo and Carmen Edward.
The medals were presented by Deputy Director of the Planning Sector Noraini Sabudin and Chief Assistant Director of the Special Education Sector Sahbudin Ag Muhammad.
Meanwhile, SK Tanjung Aru also emerged champions in the Under-12 Girls’ Handball Championship at the 2026 MSSWPL Handball Championship held at Dewan Arena recently.
The team also produced the tournament’s Best Handball Player, Ufairah Nur Irdina Mohd Khaizal.
The achievement marked a significant improvement from last year, when the team finished runners-up.
The team was coached by Ladindry Lumbis, assisted by Izzuddin Ibrahim, while the team managers were Muliati Tahir, Nur Alisya Mohd Azlan, Rahidah Akup and Siti Fauzela Masri.
