LABUAN — Labuan Youth Dansa emerged champion of the Borneo Semai Gembala Labuan Creative Dance Competition after delivering a winning performance on July 24 as part of the Road to MAHA Labuan programme at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex.
The group, making its competition debut under the auspices of the Labuan Youth Council (MBL), impressed both judges and the audience with an energetic and creative performance.
MBL president Nazera Roslan said the victory demonstrated the ability of Labuan’s youth to excel in the arts and cultural arena.
The team received RM3,500 in cash and secured sponsorship to compete in the Borneo Creative Dance Competition at the Borneo Arts Festival.
Their performance highlighted the importance of preserving and appreciating cultural heritage as an integral part of the community’s identity.
Nazera expressed hope that the group’s success in its maiden competition would inspire its members to further develop their talents and continue raising Labuan’s profile in the field of arts and culture.
