LABUAN — Staff of Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) joined the 2026 National Month celebration themed “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” here on Aug 10.
The programme, held at the Podium lobby of the Menara Building, was attended by UMSKAL director Professor Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin.
The programme began with a prayer led by Islamic Affairs Officer Ustaz Alfaiz Darsono, followed by staff singing the national anthem, Negaraku.
In his speech, Shamsul Bahari handed over Jalur Gemilang flags to the heads of sectors before mounting a Jalur Gemilang on an official UMS vehicle.
The celebration continued with patriotic songs and Merdeka chants led by Dr Shamsul Bahari before concluding with a group photo session.
Dr Shamsul Bahari said the programme was aimed at encouraging staff to fly the Jalur Gemilang throughout National Month as a symbol of patriotism and unity, while reflecting UMSKAL’s commitment to supporting the national agenda.
“UMSKAL staff will display the Jalur Gemilang on their cars, homes and offices. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of unity, peace and harmony for our beloved country,” he said.
Also present were UMSKAL Administration Head Sharifah Ismail and Administration and Human Resources Sector Head Mas Adi Alimin, who was also the organising committee chairman, as well as heads of sectors and staff.
