LABUAN — A fire damaged about 40 per cent of a second-floor apartment unit at Labuan Corporation (LC) Apartment Kampung Sungai Bangat here last night.
The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM Labuan) said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 9.58 pm yesterday.
“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the affected unit on fire. The occupants were safe but sustained minor injuries,” it said in a statement today.
The operation was brought under control at 10.30 pm and ended at 10.55 pm after overhaul work was completed and the premises were confirmed safe.
A total of 25 firefighters from the Layangan and Labuan Sentral Fire and Rescue Stations were involved in the operation, supported by five vehicles comprising a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT), Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), Artego vehicle and water tanker.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are being investigated by the JBPM Labuan Fire Investigation Division.
Two police personnel and two Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) personnel also assisted at the scene.
