LABUAN — A total of 620 pupils, teachers and staff of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tanjung Aru took part in the Yakult Generasi MADANI 2026: Misi Sihat Yakult programme, aimed at promoting healthy living and raising awareness of gut health among the school community.
The programme, organised by Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Education Ministry, exposed participants to various aspects of health, including gut health, balanced nutrition, physical fitness, personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices.
Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Public Relations and Science Coordinator Nur Izzati Nabila Harun said the company was encouraged by the enthusiasm and participation shown by pupils and the school community throughout the programme.
“Seeing their enthusiasm and involvement in learning about health while having fun has inspired us. We hope this programme can bring about a transformation towards a healthier and more meaningful lifestyle,” she said.
She said Yakult remained committed to continuing its collaboration with the Education Ministry to expand health education programmes to more schools nationwide.
The programme also aimed to raise pupils’ awareness of the importance of gut health and introduce them to the role of beneficial bacteria, or probiotics, in supporting the digestive system.
It also encouraged pupils to adopt healthy practices through balanced nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy daily routines, while highlighting the link between a healthy digestive system and overall well-being.
SK Tanjung Aru Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum Irham Hamid said the collaboration between Yakult Malaysia and the Education Ministry had benefited the school community through various health education initiatives.
He said the collaboration enabled programmes focusing on health, balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyles to be implemented in schools.
SK Tanjung Aru headmaster Mohd Farihi Ab Halim said the collaboration was meaningful as it provided pupils with an opportunity to gain health-related knowledge through an engaging and enjoyable approach suited to their age group.
Apart from health talks and sharing sessions, pupils also took part in an interactive Health Quiz, which received an encouraging response.
Successful participants received prizes as encouragement and appreciation for their involvement.
As a gesture of appreciation, Yakult also presented a bottle of its red-flower Yakult drink to each pupil, teacher and staff member involved in the programme.
In Malaysia, Yakult contains the probiotic bacterium Lacticaseibacillus paracasei Shirota strain, commonly known as the Shirota strain, which is among the topics highlighted in health education on digestive and gut health.
The programme was coordinated by Mohammad Faizal Hip and Hazeyzul Abdul Halim, with the support of the school administration, teachers and the entire school community.
