LABUAN — Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) emerged as the runner-up in the Banner Competition held in conjunction with the 1448H Maulidur Rasul celebration at the Federal Territory of Labuan level on Tuesday.
UMSKAL also took part in the 1448H Maulidur Rasul procession organised by the Labuan branch of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), in collaboration with Labuan Corporation.
The UMSKAL contingent was led by UMSKAL Director Professor Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin.
The participation provided an avenue to strengthen ukhwah and enhance appreciation of the teachings and sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Also present were UMSKAL Islamic Affairs Officer Ustaz Alfaiz Darsono and Head of the Administration and Human Resources Sector Mas Adi Alimin.
Held at Dataran Labuan, the celebration themed “MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati” brought together various agencies, departments and members of the local community to promote Islamic teachings and foster love for Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The programme also featured an energetic nasyid performance by Syababus Salam and a keynote religious talk by MUIS Deputy President Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad.
The celebration was officiated by Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Indera Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman.
The celebration was also seen as an opportunity not only to express love and longing for Prophet Muhammad SAW but also to encourage the community to practise his sunnah in daily life.
