LABUAN — Three semi-permanent houses were completely destroyed in a fire at Lorong Orkid, Simpang 7, Sungai Bangat here last night.
A Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Labuan spokesperson said the department received a distress call at 9.51 pm before firefighters from the Layangan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and Labuan Sentral Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, about nine kilometres away.
Upon arrival, firefighters found three semi-permanent houses engulfed in flames.
The operation was brought under control at 10.18 pm, followed by overhaul work to ensure there were no remaining sources of fire.
While, the operation ended at 11.57 pm after the area was confirmed safe, with the scene subsequently handed over to the Fire Investigation Division for further action.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The operation involved 24 firefighters and five police personnel, with five fire and rescue vehicles deployed and the cause of the fire and estimated losses have yet to be determined.
