SIPITANG — Two houses were 95 per cent destroyed in a fire at Kampung Ranau-Ranau here today, with no casualties reported.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received a distress call at 5.37 pm before six firefighters from the Sipitang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 5.53 pm, about 11 kilometres away.
The fire involved two semi-permanent and non-permanent houses, each measuring about 30 x 40 feet.
Operations commander PBK I Sahdan bin Hj Basar said firefighters used two 200-foot water lines with three nozzles, drawing water from the fire engine’s tank.
“The fire was brought under control at 6.20 pm, while extinguishing and overhaul operations continued to ensure there were no remaining sources of fire that could cause a recurrence,” he said.
The operation ended at 7.45 pm.
A total of six personnel, comprising four in a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and two in a VIGO, were involved in the operation.
