LABUAN — The ‘Kupi-Kupi’ session between Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) director Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin and staff of the Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL) provided an informal platform to strengthen ties between campus management and faculty members.

Held for about two hours at the Sri Menanti Room, UMSKAL Tower here today, the session was attended by FKAL dean Associate Prof Dr Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal.

Also present were FKAL Deputy Dean (Academic and International) Dr Ricky Chia Chee Jiun, FKAL head of administration Zamri Mohammad Tuah and sector heads.

The session was part of an initiative by the UMSKAL director’s office, together with campus sector heads and FKAL staff, to strengthen relationships, enhance communication and provide a more relaxed setting for interaction between campus management and faculty members.

Despite its informal setting, the session also served as a platform to discuss matters related to the development of the faculty and campus, including academic affairs, student matters and research.

Faculty members also had the opportunity to exchange views directly with Shamsul Bahari on issues concerning the working environment and campus development.

Discussions also covered the welfare of lecturers and staff, campus facilities and infrastructure, as well as current issues related to teaching, learning and academic activities.

The session also featured a potluck concept, with lecturers and FKAL staff contributing food and drinks, reflecting the spirit of togetherness, sharing and cooperation among faculty members.

The programme is in line with efforts to strengthen ties between the UMSKAL director’s office and the faculty while fostering a more friendly, open and collaborative working culture.

The initiative also supports the university’s efforts to create a conducive campus environment that promotes academic excellence, research and staff welfare.

The spirit of “Together We Make UMSKAL & FKAL Excellent” was reflected throughout the programme through the values of fellowship, sharing and collaboration among faculty members.
