LABUAN — The Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL), Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), and the Labuan Federal Territory Youth and Sports Department (JBS Labuan) recently explored collaboration to provide artificial intelligence (AI) training for young entrepreneurs.

The collaboration was discussed during a courtesy visit by FKAL to JBS Labuan on Sept 24, which also explored the proposed establishment of the Labuanpreneurs Living Lab and opportunities for collaboration in youth entrepreneurship development.

The FKAL delegation was led by its Dean, Associate Professor Dr Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal, and received by JBS Labuan director Mahanum Fauzi and assistant director Tracy Tumay Rigar.

Among the proposals discussed was the inclusion of AI training under the Labuanpreneurs Living Lab to help young people, particularly young entrepreneurs in Labuan, explore the use of AI in their business activities.

Mahanum welcomed the proposal to introduce such training to the youth, while Tracy noted that the current youth age limit is up to 30, which should be taken into consideration when determining the programme’s target group.

The visit also opened discussions on potential strategic collaboration between FKAL and JBS Labuan, including training programmes and youth participation in future Living Lab activities.

Also present were FKAL research project head Dr Ahmad Aizuddin Hamzah; Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation Associate Professor Dr Mohd Ashari Bakri; Labuanpreneurs Living Lab head Associate Professor Dr Anath Rau Krishnan; and People’s Income Initiative-Hardcore Poor Eradication (IPR-BMT) project head Samsulbahri Mohd Nasir.

KEBAL Youth Club chairman Ts Ahmad Nazri Jamal and JBS Labuan officers also attended.
