LABUAN — After more than 24 years of dedicated service at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), particularly at its Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), Auxiliary Police Corporal Ahmad Satiah Masalih @ Matsalleh will retire on Oct 10.
Ahmad Satiah, who hails from Kampung Luagan Sanginan, Beaufort, Sabah, began serving with the UMSKAL Security Sector on Sept 2, 2002.
He expressed his gratitude to UMS management for giving him the opportunity to serve with the Security Sector, describing his years of service as a memorable chapter in his life.
He also apologised for any shortcomings, harsh words or unintended mistakes during his tenure in carrying out his duties and responsibilities at UMSKAL.
“I pray that UMSKAL will continue to succeed and progress in the future, and that its staff will always be safe and healthy.
“To my fellow security personnel, continue serving UMSKAL with dedication. Be patient and remain calm when facing challenges and difficulties,” he said.
He was speaking at the Sanjungan Budi and Retirement Appreciation Ceremony organised by the UMSKAL Security Sector at the Eureka Room, UMSKAL Tower Building, on Tuesday.
UMSKAL Director Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin thanked Ahmad Satiah for his services, dedication and contributions to UMSKAL.
“I believe Corporal Ahmad Satiah has devoted his time, resources, energy and commitment to the service, while setting a good example for the entire UMSKAL community.
“Continue to contribute to the religion, people and country, as well as the local community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Security Sector Head ASP/Auxiliary Police Rakam Singh A/L Karam Singh said the ceremony was a special occasion to celebrate an individual who had reached the retirement stage after years of service.
Throughout his service with the Security Sector, Ahmad Satiah had demonstrated unwavering commitment to his duties.
He said serving as an Auxiliary Police personnel was not an easy task as it required sacrifices of time and energy, including being away from family during holidays to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.
Despite the challenges, Ahmad Satiah had carried out his responsibilities diligently, including serving as a Control Post Chief and remaining committed to his duties regardless of the time of day or night.
“For his colleagues, particularly those in the Security Sector, he was not merely a co-worker but also regarded as an elder brother and mentor who generously shared his knowledge and guidance.
“His approachable and calm nature, as well as his willingness to lend a helping hand, will certainly be missed,” he said.
Rakam Singh said the officers and 17 personnel of the UMSKAL Security Sector prayed that Ahmad Satiah would be blessed with continued good health and success in this world and the hereafter.
