LABUAN — Twenty students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), comprising members of its Student Volunteer Club (KESUWA-KAL), participated in the Cuci Malaysia – Gotong-Royong Perdana programme at Kampung Sungai Miri and Kampung Sungai Pagar here recently.
The programme, which began at 7 am, involved the students working alongside villagers to clean the surrounding areas while fostering the spirit of volunteerism and community cooperation.
Kampung Sungai Miri village head Mahmud Asat expressed his appreciation to KESUWA-KAL for its commitment and active participation in the programme.
“The students’ involvement served as a positive example of efforts to strengthen ties between the university and the local community,” he said.
The programme not only highlighted the spirit of volunteerism among UMSKAL students but also strengthened university-community ties through joint efforts to maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Representatives from government agencies and the local community also took part in the programme.
