LABUAN — A 42-year-old man sustained injuries to his hand after a house at Block 2, Kampung Layangan here caught fire this afternoon, while a separate house fire was reported at Taman Arena Kerupang 2 early today.
The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) spokesperson said the department received a distress call regarding the Layangan incident at 4:01 pm before firemen arrived at the scene at 4:14 pm, about three kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, the operation team confirmed that a residential house was on fire, with about 80 per cent of the structure affected,” the spokesperson said.
The victim was given initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit at the scene.
The fire was brought under control at 4:29 pm, while the operation ended at 5:24 pm after firefighters confirmed that the area was safe.
A total of 21 firefighters from the Labuan Sentral and Layangan Fire and Rescue Stations were involved in the operation.
Meanwhile, a separate house fire was reported at Taman Arena Kerupang 2 at 1:08 am today.
Firemen arrived at the scene at 1:14 am, about 5.2 kilometres from the Labuan Sentral Fire and Rescue Station, and found that the fire had involved the kitchen of a house, with about 35 per cent of the area affected.
The fire was brought under control at 1:23 am, and the operation ended at 3:14 am after firefighters confirmed that the area was safe.
A total of 19 firefighters from the Labuan Sentral and Layangan Fire and Rescue Stations were involved in the Kerupang operation, with no casualties reported.
