LABUAN — Marlin FC, coached by staff members of Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), emerged champions in the Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12 categories at the Kebal Cup 2026 football tournament held at the Labuan Sports Complex synthetic pitch last Saturday.
The tournament, organised by Kelab Belia Anak Layangan (KEBAL) in conjunction with National Sports Day, attracted 23 football clubs from across the Federal Territory of Labuan competing for titles in their respective categories.
Three UMSKAL staff members — Tc Mohd Abdullah Manggul, Yusdi Lamat and Asmawi Awang — coached Marlin FC’s Under-8 and Under-12 teams, contributing to the young players’ preparations and performances throughout the competition.
Marlin FC’s success reflected the players’ commitment, determination and teamwork, as well as the effectiveness of the coaches’ guidance.
The involvement of UMSKAL staff in grassroots football also highlighted the university community’s contribution to youth sports development, helping to identify young talent while instilling discipline, cooperation, self-confidence and sportsmanship.
The achievement is expected to encourage further development of football among young people in Labuan and motivate Marlin FC players to improve their performance and pursue more successes in future competitions.
Congratulations were extended to the UMSKAL staff, players and coaching team for securing the championship titles in all three categories — Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12 — at the Kebal Cup 2026.
