LABUAN — Two local men, aged 39 and 50, were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during an operation targeting drink-driving along Jalan Tun Mustapha to enhance road safety.
“Another five summonses were issued for offences including driving without a valid licence, with one case involving illegal vehicle exhaust modification,” police said in a statement today.
The operation involved inspections of vehicles and individuals, including breathalyser tests conducted on drivers.
Apart from enforcement, officers also carried out advocacy efforts to raise awareness among road users on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police will conduct such operations from time to time to curb offences and reduce the risk of road accidents on the island.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 personnel, led by a senior officer from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) Labuan, were involved in the operation.
