LABUAN — A concrete shop lot unit was completely razed in an early morning fire behind Hap Huat Supermarket at Jalan Durian Tunjung here today.
The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.13am regarding a blaze at MMJ Wheel Enterprise. A team of 23 personnel from the Labuan Sentral Fire Station was immediately dispatched to the scene, located approximately 5.4km from the station.
According to Senior Operations Commander PPgB Pain Muzal, the fire involved a tyre shop lot (MMJ Wheel Enterprise), and an adjacent electrical shop dealing in household air-conditioners was also fully affected.
“Upon arrival, the operations team found the premises fully engulfed in flames and completely destroyed.
“Fire crews managed to bring the blaze under control by 6.13am, roughly an hour after the initial call. No casualties or injuries were reported,” he said.
He added that after conducting an “overhaul” process to ensure no remaining hazards, the operation officially ended at 8.14am.
Also present at the scene were senior fire officials, including PgKB I Abd Rahman Bin Ali and PgKB II Emil Taihin, along with three officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
The cause of the fire and the total value of losses are currently under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department.
Meanwhile, Cindy Chua, 33, daughter of the electrical shop owner, told Labuan Times that the owner of MMJ Wheel Enterprise was the one who contacted them to inform about the incident, prompting them to rush to the scene.
