Three Petronas Contractor Personnel Die In Incident At FSO Sepat Off Terengganu Coast

KUALA LUMPUR — Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has confirmed that an incident occurred during lifeboat maintenance work at the Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) Sepat vessel yesterday.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 12.50 pm, took place at the Sepat field, located off the coast of Terengganu, offshore East Coast Peninsular Malaysia. Four contractor personnel were involved.

Three of the personnel were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Kuala Terengganu at approximately 5.57 pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, one injured worker was evacuated for medical treatment and remains under observation.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are currently ongoing in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Petronas extended its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, adding that its immediate priority is to support the well-being of those affected by the tragedy.
