LABUAN — A total of 100 FKAL students participated in the HASiL Your Tax Buddy (HYTB) 2026 programme held at the Central Lecture Hall Complex, Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), here, yesterday.
The programme, organised by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL), served as a platform to strengthen tax literacy among university students through interactive activities, including HASiL Taxplorace, talks and knowledge-sharing sessions.
It also aimed to raise awareness and understanding of Malaysia’s taxation system among students, particularly those who will enter the workforce in the future.
The appointment of male and female HYTB ambassadors among students was also one of the key components of the programme, aimed at producing student representatives who can help disseminate tax-related information and promote tax awareness among their peers and the campus community.
HASiL said the programme was expected to further strengthen strategic cooperation between the agency and UMSKAL, while producing tax-literate, knowledgeable and responsible students who can continue to share tax information with the public.
The closing ceremony was officiated by HASiL Corporate Services Department director Shahrul Niza Bishahrin.
Also present were HASiL Sabah state director Datin Dayang Halimah Awang Ahmad, UMSKAL director Professor Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin, FKAL senior lecturer and programme coordinator Dr Nurshila Ahmad, HASiL Sabah Customer Service Section state operations director Abdul Rahman @ Yussof Rasid, FKAL senior lecturer Associate Professor Dr Lee Hock Ann, and HYTB programme director Marchelin Marcus.
Earlier, the students took part in the HASiL Taxplorace, an education-based exploration activity combining tax learning, task-solving and interactive group activities.
The flag-off ceremony was also attended by FKAL dean Associate Professor Dr Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal.
