SK Lubok Temiang, SMK Rancha-Rancha Win Overall Platinum Awards At Junior Action Research Colloquium 2026

LABUAN — Sekolah Kebangsaan Lubok Temiang (SKLT) and SMK Rancha-Rancha emerged as the overall winners of the Platinum Awards for the primary and secondary school categories, respectively, at the Junior Action Research Colloquium 2026.

SK Lubok Temiang won the top award after presenting an action research project titled “Smart Board Intervention to Improve Addition and Subtraction Skills Among 15 Year One Pupils of SK Lubok Temiang”.

The school team, guided by teachers Norhasiken Mohd Dahli and Nurul Ain Yahya, was represented by three presenters — Aneesa Maisara Hamadi, Nurhana Najla’ Afrah and Siti Syazlina Mohd Syazwan.

The Smart B.A.S group from SK Lubok Temiang also won the Best Action Research Award.

SK Tanjung Aru won the Best Presenter Award, while SK Layang-Layangan received the Best Slide Award in the primary school category.




In the secondary school category, Shamsul Danish Aniq Shawal, Huzaifah Md Saleh and Muhammad Asyraf Anwari Mohd Nazri from SMK Rancha-Rancha won the Platinum Award with their research titled “Improving Mastery of the Concepts of Vertices, Edges and Degree in the Topic of Networks in Graph Theory Using a 3D Magnet Kit”.

The SMK Rancha-Rancha team, guided by teacher Irma Hamimah Othman, also won the Best Action Research Award.

SM Sains Labuan won the Best Presenter Award, while SMK Rancha-Rancha received the Best Slide Award in the secondary school category.

The Junior Action Research Colloquium 2026, organised by the Labuan Education Department, was held in conjunction with the Borneo Book Festival (Labuan) 2026, which is taking place until Sunday at Anggerik Square, Ujana Kewangan WP Labuan.

Labuan Education Department director Yahya Ahmad Puteh presented the prizes to the winners.

Also present was Suriani Alland Rice Oxley, Social Science SISC+ officer at the Labuan Education Department, who served as the programme coordinator.

UMS Press director and Borneo Book Festival (Labuan) 2026 chairman Prof Dr Patricia Matanjun expressed her appreciation to the Labuan Education Department for organising various activities in conjunction with the festival.

The Borneo Book Festival (Labuan) 2026 is organised by UMS Press in strategic collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), the Labuan Education Department, Labuan Corporation, Financial Park (Labuan) Sdn Bhd, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sabah Branch and co-organiser Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Publisher.
