LABUAN — Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Aru (SKTA) student Christianlly Faidin made history for the school after securing third place in the boys’ solo category at the 2026 National Genta Suara Generasi Madani Competition.
The Year Five student performed a song from the Irama Malaysia genre in the primary school category, taking home a trophy and certificate at the competition held at the HGH Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur from July 6 to 9.
The event was organised by the Sports, Co-curricular and Arts Division of the Ministry of Education.
SKTA was also represented in the primary school duo category by Year Six student Muhammad Ammar Ihsan Mohd Rosdi and Year Five student Muhammad Firas Syazwi Muhammad Ameran, who delivered a commendable performance at the national level.
The students were coached by Norailing Voo, Izuddin Ibrahim and Ladindry Lumbis, with assistance from the school’s Senior Assistant for Co-curricular Activities, Irham Hamid.
SK Tanjung Aru headmaster Mohd Farihi Ab Halim congratulated the three students and teachers involved, saying the achievement reflected their commitment, discipline and hard work.
He expressed hope that the accomplishment would encourage the students to further develop their talents, strengthen their self-confidence and become disciplined future performers.
The school also expressed its appreciation to the SK Tanjung Aru Parent-Teacher Association and the school canteen operator for their financial contributions, moral support and assistance throughout the contingent’s preparations.
The Labuan delegation was accompanied by Labuan Education Department Student Development Sector assistant director Zulkifly Omar and Labuan technical officer Marcela Maikel.
A total of 48 participants and 10 accompanying teachers represented the Federal Territory of Labuan at the national competition.
Besides SKTA, the contingent comprised choir participants from SMK Labuan and SK Bukit Kalam, as well as solo and duo performers from SK Pantai, SMK Labuan and SM St Anne Labuan.
Held under the slogans #SeniUntukSemua and #KamiGenerasiMadani, the competition aimed to identify young vocal talents, promote cultural appreciation and develop confident students.
