LABUAN — The Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Tanjung Aru has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting pupils’ spiritual and character development by collaborating with the school to organise a Quranic Guidance Programme, aimed at helping Year Six pupils complete their Quran recitation before leaving primary school.
Held recently at Surau Al-Hikmah SEKATA in SK Tanjung Aru, the Kafilah Kalamullah programme involved 20 Year Six pupils who have yet to complete the recitation of the Quran.
The initiative is aligned with Pillar 6 of the Malaysia Education Plan (RPM) 2026–2035, which emphasises strengthening strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Education’s institutions and stakeholders, including parents and the local community, to enhance educational quality and holistic student development.
Conducted from 8 am to 10 am, the programme provided focused Quranic coaching by volunteer parents from the PIBG alongside the school’s Islamic Education teachers. Pupils received guidance on improving their Quran recitation, tajwid and reading confidence in a conducive learning environment.
The school’s Kafilah Kalamullah programme serves as an intervention to ensure every Year Six pupil has the opportunity to complete all 30 juzuk of the Quran while fostering a lifelong appreciation of its teachings.
Islamic Education panel head Siti Nur Atiqah Anuwar led the programme with the assistance of teachers Razidah Abdul Gaffar, Izzuddin Ibrahim, Muhammad Alif Luqman Azmi, Rahidah Akub, Nurin Syakinah Azizi, Muhammad Faurizan Jaidin and Nurul Ejmin Sihulmin.
PIBG chairman Maswandie Maimoon said the programme demonstrated how close cooperation between parents and the school could significantly contribute to pupils’ academic, personal and spiritual development.
“PIBG SK Tanjung Aru remains committed to working closely with the school in implementing programmes that directly benefit our children. The Quran is a guide for life that should be instilled from an early age. Helping pupils complete their Quran recitation is not solely the responsibility of teachers but also requires the full support of parents and the wider school community,” he said.
Meanwhile, headmaster Mohd Farihi Ab Halim expressed appreciation to the PIBG for its support and contribution in ensuring the programme’s success.
He said the initiative would continue as part of the school’s efforts to produce pupils who excel not only academically but also possess commendable character while embracing the Quran as a guide in life, in line with the school’s aspiration, “SEKATA Unggul Level Up”.
