LABUAN — Two Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) staff members helped guide Marlin FC to victory in the Under-10 (U10) category of the Ratsel FC Grassroots 2.0 Football Championship in Kota Kinabalu.
UMSKAL Chief Assistant Engineer Tc Mohd Abdullah Manggul and Yusdi Lamat served as coaches for Marlin FC in the tournament held at Fut8 Field, Sembulan, on Aug 15 and 16.
Their involvement produced an encouraging result when the team they coached emerged champions in the U10 category.
Mohd Abdullah said the achievement reflected the dedication of both coaches in nurturing grassroots football players, while demonstrating UMSKAL staff’s commitment to supporting sports development and young talent in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
He said participation in the tournament also provided the two staff members with an opportunity to share their experience and expertise in football, while serving as a platform to instil sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and confidence among primary school pupils.
“The U10 championship is a proud achievement for both UMSKAL staff members and the team they coached.
“UMSKAL congratulates them on the achievement and hopes the involvement of university staff in sports activities and young talent development will continue to be strengthened in the future,” he said.
