LABUAN — Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) is strengthening the readiness of its student leadership team through the closing ceremony of the 32nd PERKASA Orientation Facilitators (Pembimbing Suai Mesra – PSM) Camp ahead of the 32nd Orientation Week for the 2026/2027 academic session next month.
The closing ceremony was officiated by UMSKAL Director Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin at the Main Hall here today.
In his speech, Shamsul Bahari expressed pride in the PSM team’s high level of commitment throughout the camp, stressing their important role as facilitators and motivators for new students registering on Sept 12 and 13.
He said the Orientation Week was an important platform to help new students adapt to university life, with PSM members among the first individuals to guide and interact with new students and their parents.
“Therefore, I hope the PSM members will carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them with accountability, discipline, patience and professionalism.
“PSM members must be fully prepared and physically and mentally fit to assist with the registration process for new students early next month,” he said.
He also urged the PSM members to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the camp throughout the Orientation Week.
A total of 52 PSM members took part in the two-day camp, which was held from Aug 24 to 26.
Meanwhile, PERKASA Camp Director Diego Octovier Palermo said the camp was specifically designed to strengthen the soft skills, mental resilience and teamwork of the 32nd PSM cohort.
Through the camp, UMSKAL management hopes the 32nd PSM team will not only help ensure the smooth running of the Orientation Week but also serve as inspiring role models in shaping new students’ character, motivating them and facilitating their adaptation throughout their studies at the campus.
Also present were UMSKAL Student Affairs Division Head Nur Iman Reedzal and UMSKAL Student Representative Council (MPP) Deputy President Nurul Anisyah Suardi.
