LABUAN — About 100 staff and students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) took part in the Gotong-Royong Madani 2026 programme on Thursday.

The participants comprised UMSKAL staff and students serving as Pembimbing Suai Mesra (PSM), who worked together to paint road markings and road shoulders along the campus entrance and main roads.

The programme, which began at 8.30 am at the foyer of the UMSKAL Tower Building, was launched by UMSKAL Director Professor Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin.

He said the road shoulder painting activity was aimed at enhancing road safety while improving the cleanliness and appearance of the campus surroundings.

“Bright road markings and colours help motorists identify road boundaries more clearly, particularly at night or in poor visibility conditions.

“The activity also makes the surroundings cleaner, more attractive and orderly, while fostering unity, cooperation and closer ties among UMSKAL staff and students,” he said.

Shamsul Bahari expressed hope that the gotong-royong activity could be held annually to strengthen the participants’ sense of belonging and appreciation for the university.

The programme was led by Head of the Development and Maintenance Sector (SPP) and Assistant Engineer Mohd Abdullah Manggul.

Also present were Head of Administration of the Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL) Zamri Mohammad Tuah, Head of the Administration and Human Resources Sector Mas Adi Alimin and heads of various sectors.
