LABUAN — Maybank International Labuan Branch, in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), is strengthening efforts to equip secondary school students in the Federal Territory with knowledge and motivation to pursue higher education.
The initiative was part of the Maybank Global CR Day 2026: “Cahaya Future Ready” programme held at the Theatrette Hall, UMSKAL, here, today.
The programme aimed to expose and motivate secondary school students to opportunities for further studies, including available pathways and application procedures for higher education institutions.
A total of 150 Form Four and Five students from 10 secondary schools in the Federal Territory of Labuan participated in the programme.
The programme was attended by Maybank International Labuan Branch General Manager Nor Rashidi Mohammad, UMSKAL Director Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin, Labuan Federal Territory Education Department Deputy Director of the Student Development Sector Imbran Yunus and UMSKAL Student Affairs Division Head Nur Iman Reedzal.
Among the main activities was an interactive session on pathways and application procedures for higher education, including UMS Foundation and Diploma programmes, Matriculation, Form Six, the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
In addition to motivational sessions and experience-sharing, participants were taken on a tour of the UMSKAL campus to give them an insight into university life.
As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, Maybank also contributed RM6,300 to the UMSKAL Dapur Siswa, with Nor Rashidi presenting the contribution to Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari to support B40 students on campus.
The programme served as a strategic platform to strengthen collaboration between the corporate sector and higher education institutions while fostering volunteerism and preparing students for a brighter future.
