TELUPID — Four people were killed while a lorry driver sustained minor injuries in a collision involving an Isuzu lorry and a Proton Saga BLM at Kampung Gambaron here this morning.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said the crash occurred in front of Rosalinda Restaurant at Kampung Gambaron, with the two vehicles believed to have collided head-on while travelling in opposite directions.
It said the fire and rescue team from Beluran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), together with the police and Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), extricated the four victims trapped in the Proton Saga.
“The four victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry (MOH) medical personnel.
“The identities of the victims have yet to be ascertained,” it said in a statement today.
The department said the lorry driver, who suffered minor injuries, received initial treatment from MOH personnel before being sent to Telupid Health Clinic.
All the victims were handed over to the police for further action.
The Beluran fire and rescue team, comprising seven personnel led by Operations Commander Fire Officer I Rahmat Rudat, arrived at the scene at 9.33 am, about 93 kilometres from the station.
The operation ended at 9.58 am after the team ensured there were no other hazards at the scene.
The department also said there was no GIRN or telephone coverage at the location.
