LABUAN — A man in his 20s who suffered breathing difficulties while hiking at Bukit Kubong yesterday was rescued by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
The man was found by a seven-member team from the Layangan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) at the foothill of Bukit Kubong at about 6.28 pm.
According to the JBPM W.P. Labuan operations centre, the team was alerted to the incident at 5.46 pm and arrived at the location about nine minutes later.
“The team began ascending the Bukit Kubong trail to locate and rescue the victim after receiving information that he was experiencing breathing difficulties.
“The victim was subsequently provided with oxygen from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle before being brought down from the hill,” it said in a statement.
The victim was handed over to Health Ministry (MOH) personnel for further treatment.
The operation, led by Fire Officer I Ajery Michael ended at 6.30 pm.
Two Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel and three MOH personnel also took part in the rescue operation.
The JBPM team deployed a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) and an EMRS vehicle to the scene.
