LABUAN — The Labuan Immigration Department detained 10 Filipino nationals, including four men, two women and four children, during an enforcement operation at four locations in the Federal Territory of Labuan yesterday.

Labuan Immigration Department director Mohd Redzuan Nawi said the operation, codenamed Op Mahir and Op Kutip, was conducted from about 9 am to 2.30 pm based on intelligence and information received.

He said the operation involved inspections at a shipyard, construction site and two settlements for foreigners, with a total of 54 foreign and Malaysian nationals checked.

“The 10 Filipino nationals, comprising four men, two women and four children, were detained for suspected offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) and the Immigration Regulations 1963,” he said.

Mohd Redzuan said the detainees were being held at the Labuan district police headquarters and Labuan Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action.

He said two summons notices were also issued during the operation to assist further investigations.

Mohd Redzuan said the department would continue taking stern action against those who violated immigration laws, as well as employers or individuals found employing or harbouring undocumented migrants.
