LABUAN — The Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Integrity Division recently organised an awareness talk titled “Kau Rasa Biasa, Dia Rasa Tak Selesa” (You Think It’s Normal, They Feel Uncomfortable) at the Kiansam Seminar Room, UMS Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL).

The programme was held in conjunction with the Integrity Strengthening Programme to commemorate Integrity Month and aimed to raise students’ awareness of sexual harassment and bullying on campus.

Also present in support of the initiative were UMSKAL Head of Administration Sharifah Ismail and Deputy Chief Psychology Officer Nur Iman Reedzal.

The programme, which began at 2.30 pm, was attended by representatives of the Student Representative Council (MPP), Labuan Faculty of Computing and Informatics Students Association (PM FKI), and the Alpha Residential College Student Welfare Committee (JAKMAS).

The talk was delivered by UMS Integrity Division Assistant Registrar Maslina Saiba, who emphasised the importance of understanding and raising awareness among students about sexual harassment and bullying.

She also highlighted ways to identify inappropriate behaviour and stressed the importance of respecting personal boundaries and those of others.

In addition to prevention measures, Maslina explained the proper and safe procedures for reporting incidents through the official complaint channels available at UMS.

She also briefed participants on the functions and role of the Sexual Harassment Tribunal (TAGS).

“It is hoped that this initiative will help foster a safer, ethical and conducive campus environment, in line with UMS’ objective of cultivating a culture of integrity,” she said.
