LABUAN — Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Aru (SKTA) pupil Muhamad Hafidzuan Mohizam has been selected to participate in the SportExcel-Milo-Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) U12 T20 Interzone Championship 2026.
The Year Six pupil is the only representative from the Federal Territory of Labuan selected for the prestigious Under-12 cricket development programme, which will be held from Oct 1 to 8 at the Akademi Kecemerlangan Minda dan Fizikal, FELDA Bukit Rokan, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.
Muhamad Hafidzuan is among 52 players selected nationwide, with only three players from Borneo making the cut — two from Sabah and one from Labuan.
The SportExcel programme is a junior sports development platform that focuses on structured talent development, including cricket.
His participation will provide Muhamad Hafidzuan with an opportunity to gain valuable experience, sharpen his skills and compete alongside talented young players from across the country.
He left for Negeri Sembilan today accompanied by his teacher and cricket coach, Theodorus Clarence Tessensohn.
Meanwhile, SK Tanjung Aru headmaster Mohd Farihi Ab. Halim congratulated Muhamad Hafidzuan on his selection and urged him to make the most of the opportunity.
“Use this platform to gain experience, mature as a player and bring honour to the school. Always maintain your spirit, discipline and commitment in every training session and competition,” he said.
Mohd Farihi also thanked Muhamad Hafidzuan’s parents for their continuous moral support and expressed hope that the programme would mark an important step in his sporting development and open up more opportunities for him in the future.
The SK Tanjung Aru community also expressed hope that Muhamad Hafidzuan would continue to excel in cricket and one day have the opportunity to represent Malaysia on the international stage.
While, SK Tanjung Aru Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum Irham Hamid and Muhamad Hafidzuan’s father, Mohizam Mohamad, were also at Labuan Airport to see him off.
