One Killed, Three Injured In Separate Road Accidents In Sabah

KOTA KINABALU — A 44-year-old man was killed while three others were injured in two separate road accidents in Tuaran and Semporna early today.

In Tuaran, the man was killed after the Mitsubishi Triton he was driving skidded and crashed into a tree along Jalan Tuaran Bypass.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) spokesperson said its Lintas Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 12.55 am and arrived at the scene at 1.04 am.

“Firefighters found the driver trapped in the vehicle and successfully extricated him using rescue tools. Health Ministry personnel subsequently confirmed that he had died at the scene,” the spokesperson said today.

The victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.

Meanwhile, in Semporna, three people were injured after a Nissan Almera skidded and crashed into a road barrier at Kampung Bubul Laut at about 6.53 am.

The department spokesperson said the victims comprised a 57-year-old woman who sustained serious injuries and two men, aged 16 and in their 20s, who suffered minor injuries.

One of the victims was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by firefighters using rescue tools.

All three victims were subsequently taken by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
