KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) today marked the completion of three capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening the Malaysian rubber industry’s knowledge and capabilities in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions assessment and management.

Implemented under the 2026 Low Carbon Transition Roadmap (LCTR) Project, the programmes equipped industry participants with practical knowledge and capabilities in assessing and managing GHG emissions, covering Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 emissions.

The programmes recorded a cumulative participation of 61 participants from 23 organisations and support the industry’s broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) readiness and transition towards lower-carbon operations, in line with Malaysia’s Net Zero 2050 aspiration.

The programmes also marked the first year of implementation of the three-year MRC-MGTC Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 2025-2028, which supports sustainability and low-carbon initiatives in the Malaysian rubber industry.

The completion was commemorated at the Advancing Low Carbon Transition: MRC-MGTC 2026 Programme Completion & Recognition Ceremony, held at the MGTC Pavilion in conjunction with the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Participating companies were presented with certificates in recognition of their commitment and participation in the programmes.

The ceremony also served as a platform to raise industry awareness of sustainability initiatives undertaken through the MRC-MGTC collaboration, encourage companies to strengthen their GHG management practices and promote continued participation in related programmes planned for 2027.

Moving forward, MRC and MGTC will continue to leverage their strategic collaboration to advance sustainability and low-carbon transition efforts in the Malaysian rubber industry through continued industry engagement and further capacity-building initiatives.

Certificates of recognition were presented to participating companies by Norhasliza Mohd Mokhtar, Acting Chief Operating Officer of MGTC, in the presence of Mohammad Hafezh Abdul Rahman, Chief Sustainability & Information Officer of MRC, and industry representatives.
