LABUAN — Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) is organising the ‘Labuan Odyssey’ programme to showcase the cultural heritage, historical sites and attractions of the Federal Territory of Labuan.

The programme, organised by the Student Welfare Committee (JAKMAS), was officiated by UMSKAL Residential College Principal Ts Hadzariah Ismail yesterday.

Involving 50 participants comprising new students for the 2026/2027 academic session, the programme aims to provide them with an immersive and meaningful experience of Labuan by combining educational, tourism and community development elements.

Among the activities are visits to historical and cultural sites including the Chimney Museum, Labuan Museum, Labuan Marine Museum, Labuan Bird Park, Labuan Botanical Garden and Masjid Jamek An-Nur.

The programme also provides new students from across the country with an opportunity to learn about Labuan’s customs and culture, as well as appreciate the island’s beauty and attractions.

“We are delighted to organise ‘Labuan Odyssey’, a programme that showcases the beauty and rich cultural heritage of Labuan,” said Hadzariah.

Programme director Krisha A/P Gune Segaran said the programme was not only aimed at promoting tourism but also contributing to community development through visits to various attractions.

“‘Labuan Odyssey’ is a highly relevant and engaging programme for everyone.

“It not only provides an opportunity to learn about Labuan’s history and culture but also allows participants to experience the uniqueness and beauty of Labuan firsthand,” she said.
