BANGKOK — The Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR) met today to review progress in improving debt restructuring processes and timelines, addressing debt vulnerabilities and identifying priority areas for further work.
At the conclusion of the meeting, GSDR co-chairs — International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and Erin Browne, US Under Secretary for International Affairs for the G20 Presidency — issued the seventh GSDR Co-Chairs Progress Report.
The co-chairs also released a compilation of technical issues discussed by the roundtable to date, outlining areas where stakeholders have developed a common understanding.
The GSDR brings together debtor countries, official creditors and private creditors to foster a shared understanding among key stakeholders of debt sustainability challenges, debt restructuring issues and potential solutions.
Its work aims to improve the effectiveness and timeliness of debt restructuring processes while helping countries address debt vulnerabilities.
