PUTRAJAYA — Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, today officially launched the 2026 KBS E-sports Fund (DEK) and the 2026 Malaysia E-sports Accelerator Program (MEAP), aimed at further strengthening the nation’s e-sports landscape.
The DEK 2026 initiative involves a RM1 million allocation dedicated to supporting e-sports tournament organizers and digital content creators. Under this fund, eligible projects can receive up to RM20,000 in funding. The ministry has set a target of attracting 9,000 participants and achieving 2.5 million digital views through these supported programs.
In tandem with the fund, the ministry is continuing the MEAP 2026 with a RM500,000 allocation. This program is specifically designed to provide local teams and players with the necessary resources and rigorous preparation required to compete effectively on the international circuit.
“These initiatives reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to developing the e-sports industry, ensuring a robust pipeline of talent from the grassroots level to the global stage,” said Dr. Mohammed Taufiq.
Also present at the launch was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), Datuk Rahimi Ismail.
